Judwaa released in the year 1997 was a hit at the box office, with Salman Khan in a double role directed by David Dhawan. The comedy with twin brothers was a fresh one to watch in Indian Cinema. The storyline was good enough to keep you seated in your seats and also gave the audience a couple of fall-out-of-the-chair laughter scenes. Salman Khan had a good comic side to his own character, and therefore he could fairly balance his acting as opposite characters in the movie. The movie revolved around the story of twin brothers, Prem and Raja who were parted right after their birth and got together after a series of scenes. Prem grows to be a quiet and mature music star whereas; Raja becomes a thief after growing up amongst goons in Mumbai’s slums. When they unite, it results in confusion after confusion amongst everyone including their individual girlfriends. The outgoing Mala (Karishma Kapoor) falls in love with Raja and Prem falls for his show organiser the quiet Rupa. The two girls to get confused by the twins’ change of behaviour and this result in more muddle. Eventually, the brothers realise that they are twins who got separated after their births and together protect their father from Tiger Ratanlal (Mukesh Rishi), the villain. Then they marry their respective ladies after uniting with the family. The new version of Judwaa was Judwaa 2, released in the year 2017 and was directed by David Dhawan again. Although the movie barely had a new storyline, it proved to be a hit at the box office. The Varun Dhawan starrer flick also had the story of twin brothers with the same names, Prem and Raja in precisely similar characters. Varun Dhawan is one of the youngest and most loved actors of this generation of Bollywood. The two leggy lasses, Jaqueline Fernandes as Alishka and Tapsee Pannu as Samaara are the leading ladies opposite Varun. Even in Judwaa 2, Prem is the brother who is brought up by his own parents and Raja who was stolen by one of the villains and left on the railway's tracks, is brought up by Mumbai’s slum dwellers. The twins after reuniting take down the smuggling world which was revealed by their father during their birth. The music in both the movies was a hit among the audience. Anu Malik was the music composer in Judwaa, and he produced the same song ‘Tan Tana Tan Tan Tan Tara’ in Judwaa 2 also along with Sandeep Shirodkar and Meet Bros.
